NYSSCA RESCHEDULES AFTON SAFETY AWARDS NIGHT
When it rains, it pours, quite literally. Already suffering from regular rainouts, The New Afton Speedway was dealt a low blow when the nearby river overflowed it's banks, submerging the community, including the fairgrounds.

Pat and Janet Jordan have made such progress since taking over the southern tier racing facility, that this is truly a one step forward two steps back scenario. But with the help of many friends in the racing community they were able to open the gates once again this past Friday night, even hosting a 15 lap modified invitational event.

The Annual NYSSCA Safety Award Night had originally been scheduled for July 14th, but will now be held on July 28th. On this night, the highest finishing NYSSCA member in each feature division will receive $50, a NYSSCA hat and Yearbook.

Any racers that have yet to renew their membership, or wish to join for the first time should see NYSSCA representatives John Keegan, Shari Pierson or Myrtle Carpenter in order to be eligible for the bonus that night.

Along with the contingency bonus, NYSSCA offers an Injured Member Benefit Fund. The Fund assists members who have been injured in a racing related incident and are unable to immediately return to work. They also maintain a Hall of Fame housed in the Saratoga Automobile Museum in Saratoga Spa State Park. The Hall of Fame currently boasts 100 names of racing greats from New York and throughout the Northeast.
