Sept. 24, 2002
Upon request from several members of
NYSSCA, the membership was asked to express their opinions on how track
achievement awards are presented on behalf of NYSSCA. Any change would
be in effect for the 2003 racing season, culminating in the January 2004
Awards Banquet. Ballots were included in the August issue of our newsletter.
All votes were due by Sept. 24th and could be mailed to our PO Box or
brought to the membership meeting at Denny's. The options were as
follows:
1. Only NYSSCA members would be eligible for any award given by
NYSSCA.
2. Any member of the racing community would be eligible for track
awards from NYSSCA; special awards would be reserved for members only.
Ballots were received from 36 of our 650 members, roughly 5.5% of our
membership. The vote was split 18-18.
The matter was referred to the Board of Directors and it was decided to keep
the format the same as we are using for the 2002 membership year - that
anyone is eligible to receive awards based on accomplishment. If
warranted, we will again survey the membership next summer, hopefully with a
better response. Thank you to those that voted.
